If you build it, they will come sounds beautiful… Especially if you don’t have much to lose if they don’t come. I get it. They won’t come to see something that isn’t there. So you must take the risk and build.
Well, here we go. Over two years ago I started down the bold path of working to build something. Together, with a group of tenacious volunteers, we ventured off the safe path to do something bold in Renton Washington, USA. Our safe path was hosting a once a year art walk for about 5 hours in the month of August.
The group? Arts Unlimited of Renton. Our new mission? A place in the heart of Downtown Renton that would serve as a creative hub and gathering place. We desired to build and connect the community through the arts using explore sensory and kinetic storytelling.
As you can see from the photos above, we’ve made progress towards acquiring a space in the Downtown Renton area. It’s a 2,500 sq ft space that requires a wee bit of work before we open our doors to the public. We plan to have an artisan retail portion. A member and non member gallery and a meeting/classroom space. Our goal is to open in the spring of 2017.
My excitement is slightly diminished by the amount of work ahead, but I did want to share this with you. I hope to keep you updated along the way as we progress towards opening day. BTW, Arts Unlimited is a 501c3 and we could use help and money to boldly go where we’ve never gone before.
